Desktop wallpaper in Windows operating systems is the background image of the Home screen. The user is invited to select an image from standard pictures as a desktop background or put his own picture (photo), which corresponds to the screen resolution of the monitor.
Instructions
Step 1
Minimize or close all running programs, windows and folders. In order to quickly minimize all open windows, left-click once on the "Minimize all windows" button located on the right side of the Windows taskbar.
Step 2
Right-click once on a place on the desktop free of icons, gadgets, folders and files. A list of settings for the appearance, display and personalization of the desktop will open.
Step 3
In the list that opens, left-click once on the line "Personalization". A dialog box appears with you to customize the picture and sound settings for your computer.
Step 4
In the dialog box "Change the image and sound of your computer" click on the line "Desktop background", which is located at the bottom of the window. This will open the area for selection and settings of individual parameters of the background image of the desktop. This area shows thumbnails of the background images used and the basic settings for the user-selected background.
Step 5
Choose a wallpaper from those available in the Windows 7 operating system, or add your own. To select your own wallpaper, click the "Browse …" line located at the top of the open window, specify the directory where the custom image file is located and click the OK button. The preview will then display thumbnails of the images located in the user-selected folder or library.
Step 6
Click once with the left mouse button on the thumbnail of the image you like and click the "Save changes" button. The background image of the main screen will change without the need to reboot the system.
