A bot is a program that performs some action on a PC without human assistance. There are a lot of such programs now - in answering machines, games, and many other places. There are especially many of them on the Internet, and each user can distinguish between actions performed by a bot and actions performed by a person. If, of course, you know what to look for.

Instructions

Step 1

In most cases, bots are used to harm humans. With their help, people spread spam and viruses, upload unnecessary information to sites, steal passwords and other data. But if you follow some rules, you can isolate yourself and your computer from the actions of bots.

Step 2

On the vk.com social network, messages containing spam are sent by unknown persons. And if you received unnecessary advertising in a message, you don't need to compare the sender to the ground - most likely, his page was simply hacked by a hacker, or rather, a bot. The mailing on behalf of the person, whose account was hacked, is produced by another bot. Messages such useful information, as a rule, do not contain. There they write only links to malicious sites, visiting which the "victim", without knowing it, exposes his PC to an attack of viruses and other harmful programs.

Step 3

But how do you understand what the bot program wrote to you? After all, it may happen that a friend just wrote to you, deciding to invite you to visit an interesting site, and you take and delete this harmless message, considering it as spam. However, the actions of the bot are easy to distinguish.

Step 4

Since bots usually send mass mailings, and not just single messages, the message will contain your name, and unchanged. That is, if you called yourself on the social network not Elena, but Lenuska, or not Ivan, but Vanechka, then the message will say, respectively, Lenuska or Vanechka. It happens that instead of a name, a certain number of some incomprehensible characters is written. Simply if absolutely identical messages are sent to each user by the program, it will be quickly discovered and the page from which the spam was sent will be blocked. And so the bot will be able to send spam to a large enough number of people, and at least someone will be hooked. Therefore, carefully review the messages with links. And follow them only if you are 100% sure that a friend wrote to you, not a bot, and that the link is safe.

Step 5

There are bots that buy tickets for various cultural events online and then sell them at an inflated price. It also happens in another way, when one ticket is bought several times and at the same time by different people. To avoid this, buy tickets exclusively from trusted sites or trusted points of sale.

Step 6

And these are just some of the many types of bots that exist. Therefore, be extremely careful about any suspicious, unverified information. Bots are human-made programs that do the same thing - remember that. If, say, you decide to buy something on the Internet, make a purchase again only on a trusted, well-known site and do not trust third parties.
