One of the most convenient and reliable Linux distributions is Ubuntu, this operating system is suitable for both beginners and experienced users. After installing Ubuntu, some users may want to disable password entry at login.
Instructions
Step 1
Linux is gaining more and more fans every year. An important role in this is played by the emergence of more and more high-quality distributions that allow you to install the operating system and get started without any extra hassle. Ubuntu is just such a distribution, and when installing and configuring it, you will face a minimum of difficulties. Usually, everything starts working "out of the box" - the system correctly detects all equipment, it contains all the necessary programs for normal operation.
Step 2
Windows users usually work under an administrator account and get used to not having to enter a password when booting the system. Having switched to Linux, they want to get the same easy login in this OS. To implement auto-login in the latest versions of Ubuntu (11.10 and older), open: "System Settings" - "User Accounts".
Step 3
In the window that opens, select your account, click the "Unblock" button and enter your password. Then enable the automatic login option by pressing the corresponding button. After rebooting, Ubuntu will boot automatically without entering a password.
Step 4
If for some reason it was not possible to enable automatic login as described above, you can implement it by editing the /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf file. To edit it, type the following command in the console: sudo gedit /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf and press Enter. Enter password. In the editor window that opens, find the line autologin-user =. In this line, you must enter the name of the user under which you log into the system. For example, autologin-user = alex22 (no trailing dot).
Step 5
It should be noted that the Linux operating system differs from Windows, first of all, in its philosophy and approach to work. In Linux, they do not work under an administrator, which significantly increases security. Security issues in this OS are of high priority, so entering a password at the entrance is in good agreement with the basic principles of work in this system. Entering the password itself takes a matter of seconds, and you know that no one else will be able to log in. It is no coincidence that various Linux distributions are so popular among hackers - it is this OS that is able to provide the highest level of confidentiality and information protection.
