They say that cleanliness happens not where they clean up, but where they don't litter. What to do if the worst has already happened and the computer screen is replete with all sorts of shortcuts and icons, under which the desktop wallpaper is not visible? Of course, clean up the desktop, removing all unnecessary from it.

Instructions

Step 1

In order to slightly disassemble the rubble on the desktop, you will need to run the Desktop Cleanup Wizard. To do this, find any area free of icons on the desktop of your computer and right-click on it.

In the context menu, select the "Desktop Cleanup Wizard" option in the "Arrange Icons" group. The start window of the cleaning wizard will open with a description of what this utility does. Click on the "Next" button at the bottom of the window.

Step 2

Select shortcuts that can be moved to the "Unused Shortcuts" folder without compromising the convenience of your work at the computer. To do this, look at the list of shortcuts that opened in the next window of the cleaning wizard. The most recently used shortcuts will display the date of the last launch. If you have not started the application using a shortcut on the desktop for at least a week, you can safely remove it to the folder for unused shortcuts, which will be created by the cleaning wizard.

Uncheck the checkboxes next to the labels you need on a daily basis. Click on the "Next" button.

Step 3

Check again the list of shortcuts that will be removed from the desktop. If necessary, click the Back button and edit the list. After that click on the "Finish" button. Your desktop is cleaned up.

Step 4

To avoid starting the cleaning procedure manually each time, configure the Desktop Cleanup Wizard. To do this, in the context menu, which is invoked by right-clicking on an empty space on the desktop, select "Properties". In the properties window, click on the "Desktop" tab.

Click on the "Desktop settings" button and in the window that opens, check the "Clean up the desktop every 60 days" checkbox. Click on the OK button, and in the properties window, click the "Apply" button and OK.
