Tablet PCs often lose sound. Moreover, this problem appears equally often for different models with different operating systems. As a rule, it occurs after reflashing the tablet, after installing some programs on it, with incorrect handling of the device.

First check the volume control with the corresponding buttons. If the software crashes, the audio control bar will work, but no audio will appear. Try to play sound with different programs and with different files. Plug in headphones and check for sound.

The reasons for the lack of sound can be divided into two conditional parts: hardware (hardware problems) and software. In some cases, you can try to solve them yourself, without resorting to the services of workshops.

Solving software problems

If your tablet is running Android, go to Settings and look for Sound. Go into it and try to adjust the volume. If the sound still does not appear, in the "Settings" go to the "Restore and reset" item, select "Reset settings". This will reset all of the user's personal settings and return the PC to its factory configuration. After that, the device should be rebooted. Please note that you should not select the "Clear SD card" option, otherwise you may lose the data saved on the flash drive.

If your tablet is running Apple iOs (iPad), after following all of the above instructions in the Settings menu, also check Volume Limit in the Music submenu.

Solving hardware problems

It is recommended to independently search and troubleshoot tablet components for those who are at least a little familiar with electronics. Persons who are not sure that they can at least disassemble a PC should contact a specialist.

Disassemble the device. Considering that all tablets have their own nuances, read the instructions first. After removing the case, find the speaker. Most often, it is soldered to the board and 2 wires fit to it, usually having different colors. Sometimes the speaker can be attached to the back of the tablet and just stick to the contacts on the board.

Check the integrity of the wires that fit it. If any gaps are present, solder them. If the wires are not broken, carefully unsolder the speaker and check the resistance with an ohmmeter. Serviceable speakers have some kind of resistance (different for different models). Faulty ones have either zero or infinite resistance. You can solder the speaker to some other device, to the earphone, and thus test its operation. You can solder a working speaker similar in characteristics to the board and thus check the health of the audio codec chip. Repair of this microcircuit requires special equipment and cannot be done at home.
