Step 1
To configure Wi-Fi adapters from Asus, a special utility WLAN Control Center is used. Purchase a suitable Wi-Fi adapter. When choosing this device, pay attention to some of the features of its operation. First, find out the types of radio networks that the equipment supports. Secondly, check the possibility of creating your own access point, if you need such a function.
Step 2
Connect the selected Wi-Fi adapter to your computer. If you are using a PCI device, disconnect the PC from the AC power beforehand. Visit https://en.asus.com/ and download ASUS WLAN Control Center from there. Install this application on your computer. Reboot your PC.
Step 3
Run the program and open the Config tab. Find and open the Soft AP tab. Click on the Soft AP Mode item to activate it. Find the list of local networks at the bottom of the working window. Select the one for which you want to allow internet connection. Transfer the name of the selected network to the Internet field. Check the box next to Enable ICS.
Step 4
Click the Apply button to save the adapter parameters. Wait for the device operating mode to change. Your wireless access point is ready. Configure security settings for your Wi-Fi network. Open Config and select the Access Control tab. Enter the MAC address of the laptop's wireless adapter in the Access Control List field. Select the Accept option. To view the MAC address, turn on your mobile computer, open the Start menu and select Run.
Step 5
In the field that opens, enter cmd and press the Enter key. Type the command ipconfig / all and find the MAC address of the required adapter in the resulting table. Add the physical addresses of Wi-Fi adapters of other laptops in the same way to the list of allowed addresses.
