Small skin imperfections like enlarged pores and pimples can be removed from the picture using Photoshop's retouching tools. Often, artistic processing of portraits begins precisely with the neutralization of such shortcomings.

Instructions
Step 1
Load the image to be processed into Photoshop and insert a new transparent layer into the open document, which will contain the retouching elements. To do this, press the combination Shift + Ctrl + N. In this way, you separate the original photo from the corrective details, the excess of which you can erase at any time without encroaching on the main image.
Step 2
The easiest way to remove skin blemishes is to use the Spot Healing Brush tool. Activate the Sample all layers option in its settings and adjust the size of the brush. To make this option available, click on the triangle-shaped button to the right of the Brush field in the settings panel. The diameter of the brush should slightly exceed the size of the defect to be repaired.
Step 3
Click the adjusted tool over the area of skin you want to mask. If successful, the program will process the image correctly and the defect will disappear. The Spot Healing Brush does a good job of correcting fragments that differ from the surrounding background.
Step 4
When correcting large areas, the results of using the tool may be far from ideal. In this case, try turning on the Create Texture option. In Photoshop CS5, the Content-Aware option will help you get a more correct result.
Step 5
Fragments of the image that cannot be corrected with the Spot Healing Brush can be processed using the Healing Brush tool. In its settings, you will also need to enable the option that allows you to work with all visible layers of the picture.
Step 6
Unlike the Spot Healing Brush, this tool requires you to specify the source from which to copy the pixels that cover the editable area. To do this, click on the appropriate fragment of the photo while holding Alt. Having set up the tool in this way, click on the edited part.
Step 7
The Healing Brush changes the brightness of the copied details according to the characteristics of the pixels of the area to be corrected. If this property of the tool interferes with your work, switch to Clone Stamp, which makes an exact duplicate of the fragment specified as the source.
Step 8
After masking the skin imperfections, save the photo with the Save As option on the File menu. If you are going to apply other artistic retouching techniques to your photo, save it to a psd file.
