The system disk is the partition of the hard drive where the operating system is installed. Changing the system and changing local disks may be required when you need to re-allocate hard drive memory between partitions. Or you need to partition your hard drive into more partitions than are available. Changing the system disk, its parameters, assigning a new name or increasing its memory is impossible without reinstalling Windows.
Necessary
Computer, disk with Windows operating system
Instructions
Step 1
Insert the Windows operating system disc into the drive of your personal computer, then restart the computer and press the F5 key during the restart process (if it does not work, then F8). After that, you will be taken to the menu for selecting the source of the operating system boot. Select DVD / CD ROM. The default is "E". Press "Enter" and be sure to wait until the disc spins up, then press any key. Preparations for installing Windows begin.
Step 2
Then you will be taken to a menu where you can manipulate the hard drive. Using the arrows on the keyboard, first select the "C" section and press "D", the section will be deleted, then select all the sections in turn and delete them. Now you can create new local disks and change their parameters.
Step 3
Select the Hidden Region option and press the C key. Select the amount of memory for the new local disk. This will be the system drive on which Windows will be installed. The following drives will be local. In this way, you can create the required number of local disks, and select the amount of memory for each. Make sure to use all the memory of the hard drive. If you have a hard drive, for example, 300 GB, and you have created two disks with a total capacity of 100 GB, then the rest of the memory will be inaccessible.
Step 4
Next, you need to start the process of installing "Windows" in the very first local drive "C" you created, then press "Enter". The system will suggest formatting, you agree. Next, install "Windows" according to the prompts of the "Installation Wizard". After installing Windows, new local drives will be displayed in My Computer.
