A fairly typical operation when editing digital raster images is to cut out independent fragments from them. Such fragments are used to decorate or complement other compositions, create photo collages, blanks for further work, etc. Cutting images is convenient in modern graphics editors such as Adobe Photoshop.

Instructions
Step 1
Load the image into Adobe Photoshop editor. Press Ctrl + O or select "File" and "Open …" from the menu. A file selection dialog will be displayed. Go to the required directory, select a graphic file in the list, click the "Open" button.

Turn on the display of measuring rulers in the document window. Open the "View" menu and check the "Rulers" item. Or press the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + R.

Turn on the display of the grid in the document window. Expand the menu items "View" and "Show", check the box on the item "Grid". Alternatively, press Ctrl + '.
Step 4
Set a convenient scale for viewing the image in the document window. Activate the Zoom Tool using the button on the toolbar. Click on the image several times. You can also use the keyboard shortcuts Ctrl ++ and Ctrl + - to zoom in and out, respectively.
Step 5
Indicate the boundaries along which the image will be cut using the guides. Move the mouse cursor over one of the measuring rulers. Press the left button and move the cursor to the image area. A new guide will be created. Set several guides in this way. Adjust their location with the mouse.
Step 6
Create a rectangular marquee. Use the Rectangular Marquee Tool for this. It is activated by a button on the toolbar.

Scale the image for more convenient correction of the selection area. Use the Zoom Tool.
Step 8
Adjust the selection area. Select "Select" and "Transform Selection" from the menu. Areas will appear on the corners and sides of the selection frame. By dragging them with the mouse, you can change the shape and size of the selection. Make the necessary changes. Click on any button on the toolbar. In the dialog that appears, click "Apply".
Step 9
Copy the selection to the clipboard. Press Ctrl + C or select "Edit" and "Copy" from the menu.
Step 10
Create a new document. Press Ctrl + N or use the menu items "File" and "New …". In the "New" dialog in the "Preset" drop-down list, select "Clipboard". Click the "OK" button.
Step 11
Paste the image from the clipboard into a new document. Select "Edit" and "Paste" from the menu, or press Ctrl + V.
Step 12
Save the new image. Press Alt + Shift + Ctrl + S, or select "File" and "Save for Web & Devices" from the menu. In the dialog that appears, configure the image compression parameters and select the data storage format. Click the "Save" button. Save the file.
Step 13
Continue slicing the image. Repeat steps 4-12 as many times as necessary.
