In certain situations, it may be necessary to cut a certain fragment from the avi file or divide it into several parts. Video editing programs come to the rescue in this case.
Instructions
Step 1
Choose one of the video editing programs. Examples of popular applications such as VirtualDub, 4Media Video Cutter, etc. Alternatively, they are more powerful application packages designed for professional video work.
Step 2
Launch your chosen video editor. Drag the required avi file into the program window, or select the "Open" item and in the dialog box that appears, select the required video file and double-click on it. The corresponding video track will appear on the timeline of the program.
Step 3
Place the mouse cursor at the beginning of the fragment to be deleted and click on the "Cut" button. After that, place the cursor at the end of the deleted fragment and press the corresponding button again. Select the resulting part of the video track and press the delete key or the "Delete" button. Connect the remaining pieces together. Likewise, cut off all unnecessary fragments from the video.
Step 4
You can also get rid of unnecessary parts of the video by selecting them. Left-click on the beginning of the video fragment to be deleted and, without releasing the button, move the cursor to the end of the fragment. Some programs use a special tool called the Cutter for this purpose. If necessary, use the wheel to adjust the display scale when selecting. Release the mouse button to make the final selection and press the delete key to delete it.
Step 5
Save the changes made to the video file. To do this, select the menu "File" -> "Save As" (in some programs "Calculate as" or "Export"). Specify a name for the future file, use the dialog box to specify its location and click the confirm button. Wait for the end of the process of saving the video file.
