A video card is a device that converts the contents of a computer's memory into an image on a monitor. The video card can be integrated, i.e. built into the motherboard, or discrete (expansion card). Discrete video adapters are inserted into a special slot on the motherboard.

Step 1
There are several ways to determine which video card is installed. A way for the curious is to look with your own eyes and touch it with your own hands. Unscrew the tightening screws and remove the side panel of the system unit, unless, of course, it is under warranty service. The expansion board can be fixed with plastic clips or fixed to the rear panel with a screw. Unscrew the screw or bend down the latches, remove the adapter from the slot and examine its markings.
Step 2
If the video card is built-in, find the name of the motherboard. It can be written above the PCI slots, between the CPU and RAM, at the top of the board. On the manufacturer's website, you can find data on all integrated devices, including the video card.
Step 3
You can get this information using Windows tools. In the program launch line (called by the Win + R hotkey combination or by choosing the Run command from the Start menu), enter dxdiag. This command calls DirectX, a Windows media function library that defines the configuration of a computer. Go to the "Display" tab and in the "Device" section you will see the characteristics of your video card.
Step 4
You can get data about the devices of the system unit using third-party programs. Download the free CPU-Z utility from the developer's site and run it. Open the Graphics tab. Here you will see the type and model of the video adapter, the amount of RAM and the manufacturer's logo.
Step 5
PC Wizard is another handy program that collects information about your computer and is available for free download. Install the utility on your computer and run it. In the "Hardware" section, click on the display icon. The program will display information about the monitor and video card settings. To change the settings, right-click on a parameter and select the "Settings" option.
