Each PC device, including the drive, has its own microcomputer, which is responsible for the sequence and correctness of actions. This allows you to improve the performance of the device without the need for mechanical changes and additions. It is enough just to correct the software (reflash). How to do this, read on.

Instructions

Step 1

Download the new firmware version, as well as the program for its installation on dvd-rom from the manufacturer's official website. As a rule, the manufacturer directly releases new versions of the software. They are tested, optimized and ready to go.

Step 2

By using the licensed software, you exclude the possibility of incorrect operation of the device. However, before flashing the dvd-rom, keep the previous version of the software in case the new firmware does not suit you. Then you can return the old version and restore the previous operation of the device.

Step 3

Run the binflash program. The drive can be flashed both in the Windows operating system and from under DOS. This, as they say, is a matter of taste. In the program, select the drive you are interested in and save the existing firmware file. Then, select the file of the new firmware version and install it on the drive media.

Step 4

Make sure the drive tray is open before starting to install a new firmware version. Otherwise, cancel the action you started and open the tray. Then repeat the whole operation again.

Step 5

Before downloading the firmware file, read the annotation for it. Each of them has a special purpose and is more or less suitable for a particular drive model. If the characteristics of the firmware and the drive do not match, this can provoke the appearance of undesirable effects, such as an increase in noise when reading a disc, damage to the surface of the disc, etc.

Step 6

If you are not confident in your own abilities, entrust the flashing of the drive to a more experienced PC user, preferably a service center specialist who can optimally select the new firmware version and correctly install it.
