Necessary

a program for determining the configuration of a computer

Instructions

Step 1

To determine the model of the motherboard controller, open the properties of the computer. In the window that appears, select the "Hardware" tab and start the Windows Device Manager. In the list of equipment that appears, find the controller you need and rewrite its name. The same sequence applies to other devices, for example, video cards and sound adapters, modems and network cards, and so on.

Step 2

Use a special program to view the hardware configuration. To do this, download the Astra utility or any other that is most convenient for you to use, install it, run and view all available computer devices.

Step 3

Try also to determine the type of computer controllers without installing third-party programs and using the standard utilities of the Windows operating system. To do this, open the list of the "Start" menu and open the "Run" item. Enter msinfo32 in the empty field. In the window that appears on the left, select what type the controller belongs to - audio, video, sound adapters, memory devices, and so on.

Step 4

Opening the necessary directories one by one in the folder tree on the left, find the controller you need and select it with the mouse button. Review the information available about it on the right side of the window. If necessary, rewrite it or, best of all, save it in a text file for further quick access when searching.

Step 5

To view the processor and RAM settings, go to the My Computer menu, right-click in an empty space and view the configuration. Typically, it displays the type and model of the processor, its manufacturer and frequency. Information about the RAM is also displayed.
