Usually a standard (boxed) cooler is supplied with the processor. Unfortunately, very often this device does not meet the technical requirements of the user, or simply breaks down.

Necessary

  • - screwdriver;
  • - thermal grease.

Instructions

Step 1

Turn off your computer and open the system unit. Locate the heatsink and fan installed above the processor. Disconnect the power cable from the cooler to the motherboard. Remove the heatsink together with the fan from the slot by first unscrewing the required screws or opening the latches.

Step 2

Remove the cooler with a heatsink from the system unit. Please note that if you decide to replace both of these devices, then you must first study the method of attaching the heatsink to the motherboard and purchase a similar part.

Step 3

Install a new cooler on the radiator if you decide to replace only this device. Before installing the radiator, it is recommended to replace the thermal grease on the processor. This will provide additional cooling to the device. Squeeze out a small amount of thermal paste from the tube. Its volume should be approximately equal to the volume of the tube cap.

Step 4

Use a fine lint cloth to remove old thermal grease from the processor. Apply new thermal grease to the surface of the processor. Replace the heatsink and attach it to the motherboard. Connect power to the cooler. Do not turn on the computer for about 30 minutes.

Step 5

Turn on the computer and make sure the processor is working properly. Install the Everest software. Start it up. Find the "CPU" menu and open it. Make sure the processor temperature is within acceptable limits.

Step 6

Run any game with high system requirements. After about 20 minutes, roll it up and open the Everest program. If the processor gets very hot, restart your computer.

Step 7

Go to the BIOS menu by pressing the Del key during the start of the computer boot. Find the menu that displays device temperatures. Activate the feature that shuts down the computer if the processor or other equipment overheats.
