Cooler - a device that provides cooling of the processor by ventilating the air. This is necessary so that the processor does not overheat during operation. From time to time, it becomes necessary to remove the fan, for example, to clean it from dust or replace it due to its failure.

Instructions

Step 1

In order to separate the cooler from the processor in Socket 478, disconnect the computer from the power supply and open the external panel of the system unit. As a rule, it is fixed with several bolts. After that, on the motherboard you will see the connector you need, in which the processor and the fan attached to it are located.

Step 2

For further work, unclench the white plastic clips on the fan in different directions, which hold the entire structure on the motherboard (this will slightly free up the cooler with a heatsink). Next, carefully pull out the four latches so that they come to the open state, but no more than 2-3 mm to the sides, so as not to break them at all. It is advisable to open the latches in turn. To do this, use a small flat screwdriver.

Step 3

Then investigate the attachment of the processor with cooler to the motherboard. If it is carried out with bolts, unscrew them. If you are using plastic holders, simply remove them.

Step 4

Please note that if you have been using a cooler for a long time, it may stick to the processor with thermal paste, which will most likely make it difficult to remove. To facilitate the process, after the latches are open, slightly rotate the structure in different directions. It is important that the angle of inclination of the fan does not change (straight up). You do not need to make a lot of effort for this, as this can damage the radiator. Also, before removing the cooler, try to warm up the processor either using the system itself (put a heavy load on it), or using an ordinary household hairdryer. In a hot state, there is a better chance of removing the cooler without damaging it.

Step 5

If, nevertheless, you were not able to remove the cooler yourself, use the services of computer repair specialists, where they can easily and quickly help you cope with this problem.
