There are many reasons for creating multiple local disks. It is important to understand that it is far from always possible to divide a disk partition without using special programs.

Step 1
There are several ways to divide system partitions on hard drives. In some cases, these partitions will be formatted, and in others, they will retain all the data stored on them. First, try using Partition Magiс.
Step 2
Download the version of the program suitable for the operating system installed in your computer or laptop. Install the application and restart your computer. Run the program.
Step 3
Go to the "Wizards" tab. Open the New Section menu. Activate Advanced Mode and click Next.
Step 4
Specify an existing partition from which free space will be separated to create a new disk. In your case, this is the partition where the operating system is installed. Click "Next".
Step 5
Set the size of the future section. Note that the larger the newly created volume, the smaller the volume of the partition to be shared. Select the file system type for the future partition. Click "Next". In the final window of the wizard, click the "Finish" button.
Step 6
To start the process of dividing a hard disk or its partition, click the "Apply pending changes" button, which is located in the virtual operations menu.
Step 7
If you plan to install two operating systems on one hard drive, then use the hard drive partitioning program built into the installer of Windows Vista and Seven operating systems.
Step 8
Start the OS installation process. Wait for the window with a list of existing sections to appear. Click the Disk Setup button. Highlight the partition where the operating system is installed and click the "Remove" button.
Step 9
Now click the "Create" button, specify the format of the file system and the size of the future partition. Repeat this operation to create a second system partition.
