The formatting process is used to change the type of file system or to quickly clean up the hard drive. Removing information from the system partition of a hard disk is usually carried out using special applications.
Necessary
- - Acronis Disk Director;
- - ISO File Burning;
- - bootable disks Windows XP, Seven, Vista.
Instructions
Step 1
Before installing a new version of the operating system, it is recommended to format the active disk partition. To do this, use the utilities built into the OS installer. Insert the bootable disc into the drive.
Step 2
Restart your computer and open the Quick Launch menu. It is usually invoked by pressing the F8 (F12) key. Specify the DVD drive where the Windows installation disc is located.
Step 3
Wait for the operating system installation program to start. Go to the next menu and select the local drive to install the OS to.
Step 4
For Windows XP, select the "Format to NTFS" option and press the Enter key. The program will automatically clean up the system partition and continue with the Windows installation procedure.
Step 5
The Windows Seven and Vista installation programs allow you to manually configure your hard drive partitions. Select the local volume with the left mouse button where the old copy of the operating system is located.
Step 6
Expand the Disc Settings menu. Click the "Format" button. After completing this procedure, select the cleared partition again and click the "Next" button.
Step 7
If you need to format hard disk partitions without installing a new copy of Windows, use Acronis Disk Director. Download the boot disk image with the specified utility.
Step 8
Write the image files to a disk drive while retaining the ability to load the program in DOS mode. To do this, use the programs Ultra ISO, Nero Burning ROM or ISO File Burning.
Step 9
Run the program from the disk after restarting your computer. Highlight the system logical drive and click the "Format" button. Confirm the application of the specified parameters and wait until the cleaning of the partition is completed. Format the rest of your local drives in the same way, if necessary.
