Using the laptop's video output, you can connect a TV, monitor or office projector to it. This will allow you to display the image on a screen with a larger diagonal than the built-in laptop display.
Instructions
Step 1
If your laptop has an S-Video connector, you can connect a TV to it. First, run the CMOS Setup utility built into the machine's BIOS and select the color system: PAL or NTSC, depending on which one is supported by your TV. Then, with the equipment de-energized, connect the laptop and TV to each other. If the latter has an S-Video input, use a cable that has matching connectors on both ends. If the TV has only a composite video input, use an adapter - ready-made or home-made. In the latter case, feed the video signal from pin 3 of the S-Video connector to the TV input directly, the color signal from pin 4 through a capacitor with a capacity of several hundred picofarads. Use pins 1 and 2 as general pins.
Step 2
In order for the laptop to start outputting images to the S-Video output, you must first turn on the TV, and only then the computer. If everything is done correctly, then shortly after switching the TV to the low-frequency input mode and turning on the laptop, you will see the BIOS splash screen on the screen.
Step 3
Connect the monitor to the laptop with a VGA or DVI cable, depending on which connectors the devices are equipped with. At the same time, they must also be de-energized. You can connect a VGA monitor to a laptop with DVI output using a factory-made adapter. The reverse operation is not possible.
Step 4
By default, your laptop is set to native display only. To make the video signal appear on the external interface, press the Fn key and the F-key at the same time, which has a stylized image of the monitor. This is usually the F8 key. By issuing such a command, you can cycle through three modes: built-in display only, monitor only, and both. The latter of these modes is not available on some machines.
Step 5
Some TVs have VGA or DVI inputs. In this case, use this input - it will provide a higher image quality than the composite video input. The same goes for office projectors equipped with both types of inputs.
