Necessary

  • - UTP-5e ethernet cable of a certain length
  • - 2 connectors RJ-45
  • - a tool for crimping connectors

Instructions

Step 1

Route the cable between the laptops. Strip about three centimeters of the top cable insulation. Place the thin wires at one end of the cable in the order "BO, O, BZ, S, BS, Z, BK, K"; and on the other in the order "BZ, Z, BO, S, BS, O, BK, K". Where "O" - means orange cable color, "Z" - green, "C" - blue, "K" - brown. The letter "B" means that it is a white cable with stripes of the color of the second letter. Hold the wires in your hand and push the connector on them until it stops so that the metal contacts of the connector point up. Make sure that each wire falls into its own connector guide. Check for correct wiring and squeeze the connector with a crimping tool. Do the same for the other end of the cable. Connect both cables to the ethernet ports of the laptops.

Step 2

Configure laptop network cards. To do this, open the "Control Panel" and double-click on the "Network Connections" shortcut. Right-click on the "Local Area Connection" shortcut and select "Properties" from the drop-down menu. In the components used, open the properties of the Internet Protocol (TCP / IP). Assign the IP addresses "192.168.0.1" and "192.168.0.2" to the laptops. Set the subnet mask "255.255.255.0".

Assign one workgroup to both laptops. Open the "System" shortcut in the "Control Panel". Switch to the Computer Name tab. Set both computers to a workgroup. "Workgroup". Set the computer name arbitrarily.

Step 3

Share the notebook folders you want to share. To do this, in Explorer, open the properties of the folder and on the "Access" tab, check the box "Share this folder." The laptops will be visible in each other's "networked neighborhood".
