You can use a special tool to write complex formulas. In Microsoft Word, this is Microsoft Equation. To start it, you need to go to the address: "Insert" -> "Object", in the opened dialog box, on the first tab from the list, select Microsoft Equation and click "OK" or double-click on the selected item. After that, a toolbar will open in the document workspace, and an area for entering a formula will be highlighted at the place of the text where the cursor was. The toolbar is divided into sections, each section contains a specific set of symbols. When you click on a section, the list of characters in it expands. From the list that opens, select the desired symbol and click on it. After selection, the specified character will appear in the input field, which is highlighted in the text. Entry is carried out in direct order, that is, if you want to write a fractional expression, then first select the fraction symbol from the toolbar, then enter the numerator and denominator. If it is necessary to describe the extraction of a root, the root symbol is entered first, and then the radical expression, and so on.

If, when you open the "Insert" -> "Object" menu, you do not find the Microsoft Equation tool in the list, you need to install it. To do this, you need an installation disc, a disc image, or a Word distribution file. Run the installation file. In the action selection window, select Add or Remove Components. Adding or Removing Individual Components "and click Next. In the next window, check the box next to the "Advanced application settings" line. Click Next. In the window that opens from the list, you need to select the necessary add-ons that you plan to install, in our case it is Microsoft Equation. Find the "Office Tools" item in the list and click on the plus sign on the left. In the expanded list, we are interested in the "Formula Editor" item. Click on the icon next to the "Formula Editor" and, in the menu that opens, click "Run from my computer." After that, click "Update" and wait for the installation of the required component. After completing the installation, you will be able to use the formula editor as described in the previous paragraph.
