Despite the name, a personal computer is extremely rare. There is almost always a brother, work colleague, or just a system administrator who has access to your personal information. To hide it, the function of "hidden" files was provided.

Instructions

Step 1

Log in to the system as an administrator. Only in this case it can be guaranteed that all subsequent actions will be possible - they may well be blocked for secondary users. If there is only one account on the computer, then it is administrative by default.

Step 2

In Windows XP, open any folder and in the top menu select "Tools" -> "Folder Options". In the window that appears, switch to the "View" tab. Scroll to the end of the list of options and select Show under Hidden Files and Folders.

Step 3

In Windows Vista, a similar menu is achieved by clicking Organize -> Folder and Search Options.

Step 4

If the "show" parameter refuses to be applied (it is set back immediately after exiting the menu) - this is the result of the actions of the fun.xls.exe virus. Remove it with an anti-virus program. If this does not work, open the Task Manager by pressing the Ctrl + Alt + Delete keys, go to the "Processes" item and end algsrvs.exe. This will not remove the malicious program, but will temporarily suspend it.

Step 5

If hidden files are still not displayed (but you are sure that they are), then you can use the menu item "Start" - "Run". Enter there the address of the folder where the documents are located, add a backslash at the end (C: WINDOWS). A list of objects located at the given address will appear below. Select the file and press Enter. It will be launched.

Step 6

Use search if you are not sure of the file name. Open the "Start" menu, select "Search". Enter part of the file name and search area (for example, “Removable Disk G”). After the first filtering, objects will not be found: you need to repeat the search by checking the box next to the item "Search in hidden files and folders". If, after repeated passage, hidden files were found, but not the ones you were looking for, try entering a different search key.
