Lack of hard disk space is a fairly urgent problem for many users. Fortunately, there are ways to increase the size of your hard drive or partitions.

Step 1
Expand the volume of the hard disk partition using the functions of the operating system. Remember that this method cannot be applied to the local disk on which the operating system is installed. Open the "My Computer" menu and right-click on the icon of the desired section. Select Properties.
Step 2
Click the Disk Cleanup button and follow this process. This will help remove unused files and program components. Now find the item "Compress this disk to save space" and put a check next to it. Click the Apply button and confirm the start of the local disk compression process. It is highly recommended that you delete unused files before doing so, especially disc images and videos. This will reduce the size of the resulting archive. The disadvantage of the described method is that the processing speed of archived data is greatly reduced.
Step 3
If you need to increase the size of a specific partition, then use the Partition Manager program. Install it and restart your computer.
Step 4
Launch the application and open the "Wizards" menu. Hover the cursor over the line "Additional functions" and in the expanded menu select the item "Redistribute free space". Clean up all partitions before starting the program. In the window that opens, specify the section that you want to increase. To do this, simply left-click on its graphic image and press the "Next" button.
Step 5
Select local disks, the unallocated area of which will be used to grow the specified volume. Click Next and enter the new size for the local disk to grow. Click "Next". Confirm the setpoints by clicking on the "Finish" button.
Step 6
Click on the "Apply pending changes" icon located in the upper part of the program working window. The utility will continue to work after restarting your computer.
