In the graphics editor Microsoft Office Word, page numbers are one of the types of headers and footers. Therefore, to add numbering to documents, you can use both the option of inserting a header and footer, or the insertion of page numbers, which is a separate function. Both options are described below.
Necessary
Graphic editor Microsoft Office Word 2007
Instructions
Step 1
The first method uses the dedicated function of adding numbers to document sheets. To use it, go to the "Insert" tab in the text editor menu. In the "Headers and Footers" section, the bottom line is the "Page number" option you need. But if the document at this moment contains only one page, then this function will be unavailable. If there is more than one page, then click the drop-down list and you will see a menu of options for placing the numbering of sheets. When you hover the cursor over each of the items, pictures will appear showing the possible ways of positioning the numbers. Choose the most suitable one and click it with the mouse.
Step 2
Immediately after choosing the placement of the page number, the header and footer editor will open, and you can set the distance from the edges of the sheet and from the main text of the document. By clicking the Options button, you can make separate settings for the odd / even pages and the title page of the document. To exit the editing mode of the header, press the ESC key.
Step 3
Returning to the "Insert" tab and once again expanding the "Page number" list, click the "Format page numbers" item - here you can choose how the numbers are written. In addition, using the "start with" field, you can make gaps (or vice versa - repetitions) in the page numbering.
Step 4
Another way to add page numbering is to use the header and footer templates available in the program. To do this, on the same "Insert" tab, select "Header" or "Footer" - the "Gallery" of available templates will open, in which you need to select the most suitable one. When you do this, the header and footer editor will launch, in which you can configure the settings in the same way as described in the second step.
