Windows, like most operating systems, is constantly updated. The updates are designed to make the system less vulnerable and faster. However, downloading them requires a certain amount of Internet traffic. But if desired, Windows updates can be disabled. This is done in several ways.
Instructions
Step 1
You can turn off automatic updates of the Windows operating system right during its installation. The question of whether the update system will work is asked to the user at one of the last stages of the software installation. In order to disable Windows updates, just refuse to download and install them by selecting "Disable automatic updates". This will allow you to protect yourself in advance from unnecessary traffic waste caused by the system update, which will start immediately after its installation. However, the security of the system will be at risk, and reminders about this will appear every time you turn on the computer.
Step 2
The previously activated and used function of downloading and installing automatic updates can be disabled using standard Windows tools. To do this, go to the "Start" menu and right-click on the "My Computer" line. In the context menu that opens, select the "Properties" command. The computer properties dialog box will open, in which you will need to go to the "Automatic Updates" tab. To cancel downloading and installing updates for the Windows operating system, check the box next to the line "Disable automatic updates". Then click the "OK" button at the very bottom of the dialog box. From now on, updates will not be downloaded to your computer.
Step 3
Alternatively, you can enable automatic update management. To do this, go to the Windows "Control Panel" and double-click on the "Automatic Updates" icon. A single tab dialog box opens. Updates are enabled in the same way as described above.
