Modern technologies allow you to cover thousands of kilometers in one click. The internet has no boundaries, and programs like Skype let you see the people you love wherever they are. But you should never forget about online security. And if you don't plan on using your webcam for a while, it's best to turn it off. After all, connecting to your device from another computer will not be a problem for a more or less experienced hacker.
Instructions
Step 1
Of course, the easiest way to disconnect your webcam from your computer is physically, which is to simply unplug the USB cable (unless you are using an IP camera, of course). But, of course, you cannot call it a convenient way, especially if the device is turned off for a short time. There are more practical ways to disable your webcam programmatically.
Step 2
To do this, there are many different programs that allow you to instantly turn on and off webcams. One of the easiest to use is WebCam On-Off. It doesn't even need to be installed on your computer. Just download and unpack the archive with the program.
Step 3
Run the application, a small window appears. On the left side of the window, click on the Disable button, and the webcam will be turned off at the software level. Both the camera and the microphone are turned off. The program directly deactivates the device driver, and the system simply stops seeing it. On the right side of the window, the status of the webcam is displayed. After disabling, Disable will be written in front of the device model name.
Step 4
To enable the device in the same left area of the window, click the Enable button. In a second, the webcam will work. Everything is done very simply and quickly.
