To install a large number of third-party programs, you need to have free space on the system partition of the hard drive. To change the size of the C drive without formatting this volume, it is recommended to use special applications.
Necessary
Partition Manager
Instructions
Step 1
Download the installation files for Partition Manager. If you want to perform all operations without using the operating system, use the boot disk image with the specified program. Install Partition Manager or create a dedicated disk. Use the ISO File Burning program for this.
Step 2
Run the installed application. In the first menu, activate the "Advanced Mode" function. To do this, check the box next to the item of the same name. Click on the "Launch Partition Manager" icon.
Step 3
Click the Wizards or Operations tab. In the expanded menu, select the "Change partitions" item. Wait for the start of a new working window. Click "Next".
Step 4
Click the left mouse button on the icon of the section, the size of which you want to increase. In this case, this is local drive C. Click Next. Select the donor section in the same way. This is the local disk from which the free area will be separated.
Step 5
Consider an important feature: volume expansion is achieved by moving the unallocated area. Take care of cleaning up the donor section in advance.
Step 6
Click "Next". Set new values for the sizes of local disks. It is better to immediately allocate more space for the local drive C. This will save you from having to work with this program again. Click the Next and Finish buttons.
Step 7
Examine the graphical representation of the new state of local drives. If you did everything correctly, open the "Changes" tab and go to the "Apply" item.
Step 8
Confirm to restart your computer when a new menu appears. Naturally, if you worked with the PM boot disk, you can skip this step. Wait for the application to finish running.
