Thanks to the optical drive, you can use discs on your computer, and, if necessary, write data to them. But after a while, the drive may malfunction. The fact is that as a result of its long-term operation, and this is especially true if you often use scratched and worn disks, some components of the device become clogged. Then he simply stops reading many discs.
Necessary
- - computer;
- - a cleaning kit including a cleaning disc, a special cleaning liquid and a napkin.
Instructions
Step 1
To restore the normal operation of the drive, there are special discs, which you can purchase in any computer showroom. Such discs are suitable for any drive, with the exception of Blu-ray. If you are going to restore such a drive, be sure to ask your dealer for support for Blu-ray drives. Otherwise, you risk wasting your money.
Step 2
The operating principle of the disk is very simple. It comes with a special cleaning liquid and a napkin. Apply a little of this liquid to the disc, then rub it over its entire surface. Then insert the storage medium into the drive. Now you need to act depending on the type of disc that you purchased.
Step 3
The first type is a basic cleaning disc with a basic set of functions. If you have such a disc, then immediately after you insert it into the drive, it will start working automatically. You just need to wait for the cleanup operation to complete. After its completion, the drive will be tested using programs that are recorded on the storage medium. Then a report will appear.
Step 4
The second type is an optional software disc. If the automatic cleaning does not start, then most likely you have such a disk. Go to "My Computer" and start it manually. The disc menu should appear. Here you can select the degree of cleaning, the number of cleaning cycles and many other parameters.
Step 5
After selecting these options, start the restore operation. Wait for the drive cleaning operation to complete. The report may also display a notification that this operation should be repeated. Accordingly, you will need to perform the cleanup operation again. After it is completed, remove the disc from the drive. The drive should now work normally. The cleaning disc can be used an unlimited number of times.
