Instructions
Step 1
One of the more popular music recognition software is Tunatic. Go to the official website of the application and download its latest version from the main page from the Download section. Run the downloaded file and complete the installation, following the instructions on the screen of the installer.
Step 2
Connect a microphone to the audio input of your computer and configure it. This can be done using the control panel of the sound driver installed in the system. Volume parameters can be adjusted by right-clicking on the icon in the Windows system tray in the lower right corner of the screen. Select the "Recorders" menu item, where adjust the microphone parameters.
Step 3
The utility will launch as a small on-screen widget in the upper left corner of the screen. Bring the connected microphone to the speakers and start playing the melody. Click on the magnifying glass icon in the left part of the program window and wait for the notification about the found melody. The application will display the name of the recognized song.
Step 4
If you cannot find the melody you want with Tutanic, try any other recognition software. For example, the Musicbrainz utility allows you to find not only the song being played, but also a specific audio file on your computer. The WinAmp player also has an Autotag function that allows you to identify the file by the tags inscribed in it.
Step 5
Melody recognition can also be carried out using a mobile device. There is a unique TrackID application for Sony Ericsson phones. There is a similar Shazam program for devices based on iOS, Symbian and Android operating systems. Run the utility used on your device, bring it to the sound source and wait until the process of determining the melody is finished. If matches are found, a corresponding notification will be displayed on the screen.
