When working with video files, it is very important to choose the right program designed for processing a particular type of video. It is important to understand that it is not at all necessary to use high-quality paid utilities to perform some procedures.

Instructions
Step 1
If you need to merge two avi files, use VirtualDub. Download the installation files for this utility. Install the program and run it.
Step 2
Select "Open Video File" located in the first tab on the toolbar. Specify the video track to be placed at the beginning of the final file. Wait for the selected fragment to be loaded into the program.
Step 3
Open the File menu again. Go to Add AVI Segment. Specify the second video track. After integrating it into the working window of the VirtualDub program, go to the "Save As" item. In the Windows Explorer menu that appears, select the directory where the target file will be placed. Enter its name.
Step 4
Click the Ok button. Wait for a while while the program saves the merged video file.
Step 5
Use Total Video Converter to convert working files to avi format. Download and install this utility. Open the program using the shortcut on the desktop.
Step 6
Click the New Project button and go to Import File. Specify the storage location for the first video clip. In the next menu, select the format (avi) into which this file will be translated. Move the slider to High Quality.
Step 7
Repeat the described procedure for editing the second fragment. Be sure to use a similar format. Check your video processing options and click the "Convert" button.
Step 8
Now start the VirtualDub program and connect the fragments. If you need to keep the original video format, perform reverse conversion of the whole file using Total Video Converter.
