Instructions
Step 1
Select a personal computer that will distribute Internet access to other devices. If you use a relatively "weak" computer for this purpose, this may adversely affect the operation of the future local area network. The selected PC must have at least two network adapters. Install an additional network card if necessary.
Step 2
Connect the Internet access cable to the first network adapter. Connect the second adapter to the network cable. Connect its other end to a switch or another computer. Network equipment must be used if you plan to connect more than two computers to the Internet at the same time.
Step 3
Turn on the first computer and open the menu containing the list of network adapters. Set up your internet connection and make sure it works. Now right-click on the icon of the card that is connected to the hub or the second computer.
Step 4
Open its properties and go to configuring the parameters of the Internet Protocol TCP / IP. In Windows Vista and Seven, you must select IPv4 because it is he who will be used to create this network. Activate the function to use a static IP address. Enter its value. Avoid boilerplate addresses so they don't conflict with other devices on the network.
Step 5
Return to the list of active network connections. Open the properties of your Internet connection and select the "Access" tab. Check the box next to "Allow other network users to use this Internet connection." Save the changes by clicking the "Apply" button.
Step 6
When setting up other PCs, be sure to include the IP address of your home server. Its value must be entered in the fields "Default gateway" and "Preferred DNS server".
