If your drive stops reading discs or just barely reads them, then it is clogged. More precisely, the reading head is clogged. It needs to be cleaned to make the drive work again. But first you need to disassemble it. Get your tools ready and get to work.

Necessary

  • Two small screwdrivers. One is flat and the other is cross;
  • A soft brush (a large one is also suitable for applying cosmetics);
  • Special compact vacuum cleaner for electronics.

Instructions

Step 1

A brush alone will not be enough, because dirt and dust have one unpleasant tendency to accumulate even in the most inaccessible places. In addition, a vacuum cleaner on the farm will not be superfluous, because it can be used to remove dust from all cracks and nooks and crannies of the system unit.

Step 2

Flip the drive onto its back and remove the screws that secure the casing. In addition to the screws, there are also latches that secure the casing and the front panel. Simply press in the latches with a flat screwdriver and slide the panel forward slightly so that it does not snap into place again. In the same way, "get rid" of the casing latches.

Step 3

After exposing the inside of the drive, remove the thrust plate by unscrewing the two screws. Then remove the output tray. Pull it out with your hands straight up to the stop indicated by the arrow. Gently lift the stopper with a screwdriver and slide the tray further until it detaches completely.

Step 4

Now remove the bezel from the output tray, and then proceed with the cleaning process itself. You can wash the front panel with a tray with soap or just walk with a soft brush. Only in this case, take enough time to completely dry these parts.

Step 5

Dust accumulated on the laser lens can be removed with a soft brush. Alcohol and cotton wool is the classic method. But it is better not to risk it, because alcohol is not always clean, and cotton wool can leave fibers on the parts to be cleaned. Be careful with your hands - do not touch the lens. The pressure ring can be vacuum cleaned. And finally, run a vacuum cleaner through all the insides of the drive, in which there can only be dust.

Step 6

The assembly is carried out in exactly the opposite sequence. Only here there is a slight subtlety - move back and forth the movable panel located in the front of the mechanism so that the extreme pin on it clearly falls into the guides of the receiving tray. Don't forget to put the bezel on it as well.
