When a user purchases a new optical disc drive to replace the old one, he inevitably faces the problem of installing it inside the system unit (unless, of course, the drive is external). Fortunately, today this operation is simple and fast.
Instructions
Step 1
Turn off your computer and unplug the power cord.
Step 2
Remove the side walls of the system unit case or detach its entire cover as a whole, depending on the type of case.
Step 3
Locate a free 5.25”drive bay. In most cases, they are located at the top.
Step 4
Free the selected compartment by removing or breaking the cover on the front panel of the system unit.
Step 5
Insert the drive into a free bay, fix it with screws or latches (for some enclosures, it may be necessary to pre-install additional "sled" on the drive).
Step 6
Connect the power and data cables (IDE or SATA) to the drive.
Step 7
Close the computer case and turn it on.
