During operation, the processor consumes a lot of electrical energy, it turns into heat, and the processor heats up. In order to prevent excessive heating, the processor is equipped with a powerful heatsink. The heatsink consists of many thin, parallel fins and a fan that drives air through the fins. The air flow cools the platters and therefore the processor.

To clean the dust on the inside of the heatsink or to gain access to the processor, you need to remove the fan. To do this, disconnect all external cables and power from the computer system unit. Lay the system unit on its side in a sufficiently lit place, so it will be more convenient to work with it. Remove the side cover from the system unit of your computer. Usually the cover is held by screws or latches. Loosen the screws and slide the cover back. She will ride along the grooves of the frame and will be removed.

Find the processor fan. As standard, there are three fans in the computer case: in the power supply, on the video card, on the processor. The PSU fan is difficult to reach. Do not confuse the fan on the graphics card with the fan on the processor. A video card is almost always the topmost board that sticks out of a connector on the motherboard. Therefore, when you put the system unit down, the central fan will be horizontal.

Determine the type of fan mounting. You can define it by its appearance: either it is screws or a latch mount. Loosen the screws carefully if the fan is attached to them. Choose a screwdriver that matches the size of the screw heads so as not to rip off the slot. Loosen the screws, usually 4. Unfasten the clips if the fan is attached to them. Lift the two metal or plastic levers at the same time if the attachment is different. Carefully separate the fan from the radiator.
