Special fans are used to cool important devices in a personal computer. The presence of a good cooler at the central processor allows not only to ensure the stable operation of this device, but also to optimize it.

Step 1
When choosing a fan for a central processor, there are a lot of parameters to consider. If you decide to replace only the cooler, then select a device identical to the one already installed on the radiator. Turn off your computer and open the system unit. Learn how to mount the cooler to the radiator and the dimensions of these devices.
Step 2
Find out the type of connector required to connect the cooler to the computer motherboard. Typically a three-pin connector is used, but there may be other options.
Step 3
If you are dealing with relatively old devices, then you will need to replace not only the cooler, but also the cooling radiator. Find out how to attach the heatsink to the motherboard. Most often, these devices are connected to a special built-in or removable substrate.
Step 4
If you have not found a heatsink of the required format, then purchase a device with its own substrate. Such heatsinks are almost universal because they can be installed on most AT or ATX motherboards.
Step 5
Make sure there are no transistors in the immediate vicinity of the installed heat sink. Practice shows that universal substrates are slightly wider than standard analogs. Other mechanisms can be used to attach the radiator to them. Make sure the selected heatsink can be installed on this motherboard model.
Step 6
Verify that the standard wafer can be removed without damaging the system board. Otherwise, it makes no sense to buy a new full-fledged cooling system.
Step 7
When replacing a cooler with a radiator, be sure to replace the thermal grease. It is usually included with cooling devices.
