Microsoft Security Essentials is a software package designed to detect spyware and virus programs. It is designed for use on Windows operating systems. Its advantage is that it is fully compatible with the system and does not affect the speed of its operation.
Instructions
Step 1
To download the program package, go to the official Microsoft website and select the "Download and Buy" section. Then go to Free Downloads - Security and Utilities, where select Microsoft Security Essentials. On the page that appears, click "Download" and wait for the download of the software package.
Step 2
It should be noted that the utility is supported in all operating systems starting from Windows XP (SP3). Also, installation is carried out only on genuine copies of the system. In Windows 8, the utility is already used after installing the system on a computer and is included in the standard software package, i.e. installation of the software package is not required.
Step 3
Before installing the program, remove any other anti-virus applications installed on your computer. To do this, you can use the "Start" - "Control Panel" - "Uninstall a program". In the list that appears, select the utilities that you want to uninstall by clicking the "Remove" button. After the uninstallation procedure, restart your computer.
Step 4
Run the resulting Microsoft Security Essentials setup file. For a complete installation, follow the instructions that appear on the screen. After completing the procedure, click Finish to apply the changes and restart your computer again. The program is installed and ready to work.
Step 5
If the setup file fails to run, check the functionality of the Windows Installer service. To do this, go to "Start" and in the search bar specify the request services.msc. Then press Enter. Right-click on the "Windows Installer" line and click on the "Run" command. Then try installing again.
