Someone wants to improve performance, others need a larger hard drive, and still others dream of a powerful video card instead of an old and irrelevant video card. Fortunately, now almost anyone with patience and straight hands can replace a video card on their own.

Step 1
And so: you decided to change the video card. If the reason for the replacement is a breakdown of the old one, and you really liked it, then skip everything described in the first step. If you decide to upgrade your video adapter, then read carefully. The easiest and most reliable way to find the required video card is the instructions for the motherboard + Internet. First, determine the required video adapter connector, and then find out which video card meets the requirements of your motherboard.
Step 2
You bought the right graphics card. Before installing a new one, while your system is still functioning perfectly, find drivers for the future device. Now remove the left cover of the system unit and find the video card. The easiest way to do this, if you do not understand at all what is happening inside the unit, is to find which board includes the cable from the monitor.
Step 3
Gently remove the old video card by pulling out the video cable first. Most often, this requires bending or pressing the lock, as well as unscrewing one screw that presses the video card to the back wall of the system unit. Pay attention to the following point: sometimes the power to the video card cooler is supplied from the motherboard, and therefore, you will need to disconnect one more small wiring. Remember the connector on the motherboard where it was connected - this may be required to provide power to the cooler of the future video device. Now insert the new video card and screw it to the block in the same way as it was done with the video adapter being replaced.
Step 4
Turn on the computer and install the drivers for the new video card. After installation, you will most likely need a reboot. Note: do not be alarmed when, during the first power-up, the monitor resolution will change to the minimum, and the colors will lose brightness.
