The decision to downgrade to the old version of the Skype application can be caused by a variety of reasons, not least of which is dissatisfaction with the external feed of the program.

Instructions

Step 1

Call the main system menu by clicking the "Start" button and go to the "Control Panel" item. Expand the Add or Remove Programs link and select the installed version of the Skype application. Delete it. Then download and install the older version of the program from the Internet onto your computer. The Skype developers recommend this method.

Step 2

Another way to revert to the old version of the Skype application is to replace some of the program files. To perform this operation, find and download the distribution kit of the required version of the program to your computer. Unpack the downloaded archive into any convenient directory and find three folders with names in it:

- Phone;

- Plugin Manager;

- Toolbars.

Step 3

Return to the main Start menu and go to All Programs. Expand the Accessories link and start the Windows Explorer application. Navigate to drive_name: / Program Files / Skype and expand the Skype program folder. Find folders with the same names in it. Delete the Plugin Manager and Toolbars folders from the root folder of the Skype application. Double-click the folder named Phone and delete the only file stored in it.

Step 4

Move the downloaded Plugin Manager and Toolbars folders to the root folder of the Skype program. Expand the Phone folder and create a copy of the file in it. Move it to the Phone folder of the Skype root folder and save your changes.

Step 5

Quit the Skype application and remove its shortcut. Return to the Phone folder and open the context menu of the file by clicking the right mouse button. Select the "Create shortcut" command and move the created Skype icon to the computer desktop.

Step 6

Please note that all of the above steps are required due to the impossibility of deleting the Phone folder itself, which is observed in some cases. Restart the Skype application to apply the changes made.
