The.dbf format is a rather outdated form of storing information for database programs. To open files with the.dbf extension, you need to have third-party programs installed on your computer.

Instructions
Step 1
If you do not have the opportunity to install a special program for reading files with the DBF extension, use Microsoft Office Excel or its analogues. Typically, these programs are installed on almost every computer.
Step 2
If the file does not open, try manually changing its extension from.dbf to.mdf. First, make sure that the display of the full name of files with the extension is enabled on your computer; if not, change this setting in the Folder Options menu on the View tab in Computer Control Panel.

Just uncheck "Hide extensions for registered file types", apply the changes and rename the file, then open it in Excel. Everything here may depend on the program in which the.dbf file was created; if it was previously used by a sufficiently specific encryption program, most likely it will not open.
Step 4
Download and install a program to decrypt.dbf files on your computer. There are a lot of such programs on the Internet, one of them is called "Program for viewing DBF files". Do not download programs from dubious resources, download only from the official websites of the developers. Check the installer for viruses and after installation run the program. In its main menu, select browse files, and then specify the directory for the DBF data that you want to decrypt.
Step 5
If none of the ways to programmatically decrypt the database file helped you, look to see if it is corrupted. Also, in the file manager, check which program it was created with, and then download it on the Internet to open it, while it is advisable to use the same version that created the database.
