Disabling autoloading of removable USB-media (flash drives) and CDs serves to increase the level of computer security. Most malware and viruses use the autorun.exe file, which is the autorun program.
Instructions
Step 1
Click the "Start" button to enter the main menu of the system and go to "Run".
Step 2
Enter gpedit.msc in the Open field of the Run Programs dialog box.
Step 3
Confirm your choice by clicking OK to open the Group Policy settings window.
Step 4
Find and open the Computer Configuration folder and navigate to Administrative Templates.
Step 5
Select the "System" tab and select the "Disable AutoPlay" section.
Step 6
Call the "Properties" dialog box by right-clicking on the line "Disable autorun".
Step 7
Select the Enabled check box in the Disable AutoPlay section of the Options tab of the Disable AutoPlay Properties dialog box.

Specify "all drives" in the drop-down list of options in the "Disable AutoPlay on:" field on the "Options" tab of the "Properties: Disable AutoPlay" dialog box.

Confirm the operation by clicking OK.

Return to the main Start menu and select Run.

Enter gpupdate in the Open field of the Run dialog box to apply the selected autorun settings.
This workflow applies to all versions of Windows, except for Windows XP Home Edition, since it does not have a Group Policy panel. The desired result can be obtained by modifying the registry.

Enter regedit in the Open box of the Run Programs dialog box.

Open HKLM / SOFTWARE / Microsoft / Windows / CurrentVersion / Policies in sequence and create a new section.

Rename the created section to Explorer.

Enter the NoDriveTypeAutoRun key value in the created Explorer section.
