Despite the fact that there are a fairly large number of programs designed to change the appearance of the desktop, the Windows operating system itself has the necessary tools to personalize the graphical shell to the user's taste.
Instructions
Step 1
The desktop of a computer running Windows is one of the basic objects of the system. The desktop display is an indicator of the active state of the system and readiness to work. The objects on the desktop are intended for quick access to the most frequently used system functions. Such objects can be divided into two types:
- desktop icons;
- desktop shortcuts.
Step 2
Create the required shortcut for the selected object. To do this, call the desktop context menu by right-clicking on the free space and select the "Create" command. Select the "Shortcut" sub-item and use the "Browse" option to specify the full path to the selected object. Confirm your choice by clicking OK and save your changes by clicking Next. Type the name of the shortcut to be created in the appropriate line of the opened dialog box and apply the changes by clicking the "Finish" button.
Step 3
Change the system desktop icons. To do this, call the context menu of the selected icon by clicking the right mouse button and select the "Properties" item. Go to the Shortcut tab of the dialog box that opens and click the Change Icon button. Use the Browse button to specify the full path to the image you want, or type% SystemRoot% / system32 / Shell32.dll to use the pre-installed images. Confirm the selected action by pressing the softkey labeled Enter.
