All the work on overclocking the modem consists in installing newer drivers and firmware, and optimizing network settings. You will download the drivers and firmware yourself, depending on what kind of modem you have and who is its manufacturer, and instructions on optimizing the settings will be given below.

Step 1
TCP / IP settings. These settings play almost a key role in optimizing the operation of the modem. There are many different programs available to help you set up your network. For example, the easy-to-use and user-friendly MTUSpeed program. You can find it on the Internet for free download.
Step 2
Modem and port settings. This refers to the port for connecting the modem. The port speed must not be set to 115200 or higher. And you need to remember that this is not the speed for transferring data over the network, but the speed of the port and modem between themselves.

Go to Control Panel - Modems - Properties. The maximum values must be set here.

Next, go to Start - Control Panel - Modems - Properties - Connection - Port Settings. Make sure your modem is using hardware transmission control. Make sure to use compression.

Go to Control Panel - Network - Remote Access Controller. Uncheck all the boxes here except TCP / IP. On the "Additional" tab in the "Use. PPTP protocol "specify" Yes ".
