Instructions

Step 1

One of the easiest services for newbies to create fonts is the Fontstruct resource. It is absolutely free and requires only registration from the user. Go to the service website and register an account using the Start Now button on the main page.

Step 2

After registration, you will see an interface for working with fonts. On the left side of the window, you will see brushes for drawing outlines of letters. The toolbar is also located here. In the central part, you will see a drawing area. With the selected brush, you can paint the symbol selected at the bottom of the window. You can erase an incorrectly drawn letter with an eraser, and you can paint on the desired element with a pencil.

Step 3

After completing the work on the font, you can download it and share it in the public domain. You can also upload the work of other designers and use them in your projects. All downloaded character sets have the ttf extension.

Step 4

Among the desktop programs for designers is the Font Creator application. Install the program by downloading it from the developer's site and following the instructions on the screen.

Step 5

Open the utility. In the new window, select the File - New Font section for creating a new font. Give a name to the future character set. You will see a panel where English letters will be presented.

Step 6

To enable the Russian font, go to Insert - Characters. In the Fonts line, select Arial or Times New Roman, and then find Russian letters using the Block button. Look at the index of the first and last letters and enter the given value in the Add these character field, separated by a hyphen. So, if the letter A had the index $ 0410, and I - $ 044F, you will need to enter the value $ 0410- $ 044F.

Step 7

Draw your own letters that you would like to use in the font using any graphics editor. Load face data using the Import Image section for each displayed character. Adjust the size and color of a character set or a specific letter through the Threshold section and other parameters in the application window.

Step 8

Adjust the position of one letter relative to the other using the toolbar by clicking on one of the letters you want to adjust the position of. Adjust the parameters of all symbols, and then save the result of your work using the File - Save As menu. Your own font has been created.
