Playing Counter Strike over a dial-up connection is quite possible, but with some limitations. Setting the parameters of such a connection does not require special knowledge and is performed using standard system tools.
Instructions
Step 1
Decide who will be the server for the Counter Strike game and who will be the client. After that, on the server computer, call the main system menu by clicking the "Start" button and go to the "All Programs" item. Expand the Standard link and expand the Link node. Launch the "New Connection Wizard" application.
Step 2
Apply the checkbox in the line "Establish a direct connection to another computer" in the wizard's dialog box that opens and confirm the selected action by clicking the "Next" button. Select the "Accept incoming connections" option in the new dialog and click the "Next" button again.
Step 3
Check all the checkboxes in the next wizard window and confirm your choice by clicking the "Next" button. Apply the checkbox in the line "Allow virtual private connections" and again use the "Next" button. Click the "Add" link in the new "Select User" dialog box and enter your username and password in the required lines of the authorization form.
Step 4
Go to the "Select programs for working with the network" node and use the "Configure" button to open the "Internet Protocol Properties" dialog. Type the desired values for the IP addresses of the host and client computers in the corresponding fields of the next dialog box and click Finish to complete the wizard on the server computer.
Step 5
Repeat the above procedure on the client computer and select the "Connect to the Internet" command. Confirm the saving of the changes made by clicking the "Next" button, and Select the "Set up connection manually" item in the new wizard window.
Step 6
Click the "Next" button and mark the checkbox in the "Via regular modem" field in the next dialog box. Enter any name in the "Service Provider Name" line and type the phone number that will be used by the modem in the next window. Click OK to save the changes and enter your username and password in the required fields of the authorization form. Click Finish to close the wizard application.
