A dial-up connection can be used to play Diablo, and you only have to pay for the phone connection. A prerequisite for such a game is that both users have the same versions of the Diablo game application.
Instructions
Step 1
Make sure that the Remote Access Server component is available in the main menu of the system or install it. To do this, open the menu by clicking the "Start" button, and go to the "Control Panel" item. Expand the Add or Remove Programs link and expand the Windows Setup node. Go to the "Communication" section and select the "Remote Access Server" component.
Step 2
Make sure the modem connection you are creating will not be protected by Windows Firewall.
Step 3
On the computer making the call, open the main menu by clicking the "Start" button and go to the "Control Panel" item. Expand the "Network and Internet Connections" link and select the "Network Connections" section. Specify the command "Create a new connection" and use the item "Internet connection". Select the option "Set up a connection manually" and select the item "Via regular modem". Enter an arbitrary value in the line "Service provider name" and specify the phone number of the connected user. Please note that the username and password values must be the same on both computers.
Step 4
On the computer receiving the call, in the same way open the main menu "Start" and go to the item "Control Panel". Expand the "Network and Internet Connections" link and expand the "Network Connections" node. Go to the "Create a new connection" section and select the "Set up a direct connection to another computer" option. Use the "Accept incoming connections" command and specify your modem in the appropriate group. Select "Allow Virtual Private Connections" and add the user to connect to.
Step 5
Start the Diablo game and enter the Other Multiplayer command. Next, select TCP / IP Game and create a game on the computer making the call. Connect to the created game on the second computer.
