The file extension, or name format, is a character appended to the base file name after a period. The file extension helps you understand which program the file is associated with. Usually the extension is three characters long, but sometimes two, four and five character extensions are used.

Instructions
Step 1
It is worth noting that changing an extension does not always mean converting. You can change the TXT extension to DOC, and you will get a Microsoft Office Word text file from the file created in notepad, but this does not work in the reverse order - a DOC file rich in formatting, fonts, text colors cannot be turned into a TXT file. Therefore, it is worth distinguishing between the concepts of "changing the extension" and "converting" a file. File managers help to change the file extension. One of them is Total Commander. This program is distributed as shareware. You can download it absolutely free of charge from many internet sites that provide software for free download.
Step 2
After installing and launching Total Commander, you will see the working window of the program, divided into 2 parts - right and left. Select any part and find the desired file in it, the extension of which you want to change. Parts of the Total Commander workspace are a copy of Windows Explorer, therefore, it will not be difficult to find the required file. After the required file is found, click on it once with the left mouse button, wait 2-3 seconds, and click on the file name again. It will turn to edit mode, and now you can change the characters after the period in the file name, which means you can change the resolution. After the file is renamed, press the Enter key on your keyboard.
