There are no moving parts in the webcam, but it can break from careless handling. Some of the faults of such a camera can be corrected at home.
Instructions
Step 1
If focus is lost, the camera may not need to be repaired at all. Find the lever on the body of the device, and slowly moving it, adjust the sharpness of the image.
Step 2
If the focus is out of focus, and the webcam does not have a regulator brought out, carefully open its case and find a ring on the lens, which may have jaggedness. Focus by rotating this ring slowly.
Step 3
Spots in the image can be caused by prolonged exposure of the matrix to bright light, or by foreign objects entering the space between the lens and the protective glass. In the first case, the malfunction is irreparable, and in the second, it is enough to open the case and shake out these objects.
Step 4
The webcam, which has ceased to be detected by the computer, is most likely working properly. It's just that her USB cable is frayed. To correct this problem, disconnect the instrument from the computer, and then plug the plug into the USB receptacle removed from the defective motherboard. Using an ohmmeter, determine which of the connector pins is connected to which site on the board.
Step 5
Take a working cord from your old USB keyboard or mouse. Using the same device, check that the contact numbers match the colors of the conductors, and then solder it into the board instead of the damaged one, observing the order of connection to the contact pads identified earlier.
Step 6
The image may disappear and appear when the camera is tilted, lightly hitting it. This is caused by defects in the soldering. After disconnecting the camera, carefully solder the leads of all elements, not allowing short circuits between them. Solder microcircuits with a small pin pitch only if you have the appropriate skill, and your soldering iron has a small-diameter pointed tip.
Step 7
Before connecting the device to a computer, check the power circuits at the USB connector for short circuits. After that, you can try out the webcam in action.
