Restoring the initial settings of services on computers running Windows may need to be done after incorrectly made changes. It should be borne in mind that the above methods do not give one hundred percent guarantee of recovery, and you may need to reinstall the operating system.
Instructions
Step 1
Try to restore the original Windows services settings using the standard tools of the system itself. To do this, call the main system menu by clicking the "Start" button, and go to the "Run" dialog. Type msconfig in the "Open" line and confirm the launch of the utility by clicking the OK button.
Step 2
Select the "General" tab in the dialog box that opens and apply the check box in the "Normal startup" line. Confirm saving the changes made by clicking OK and go to the System.ini tab. Enable all options and confirm your selection by pressing the OK button. Select the Win.ini tab and repeat the same steps. Go to the Boot.ini tab and uncheck all boxes under Startup Options. Confirm the execution of the selected action by clicking the OK button and select the "Services" tab. Use the Include All command and apply your changes by clicking OK.
Step 3
If it is impossible to restore the default Windows services settings in the above way, use a special registry tweak "Default Configuration" available for free download on the Internet. Before using this tweak, it is recommended that you familiarize yourself with the description of system services on the official website of Microsoft Corporation.
Step 4
Please note that if you are using a non-standard assembly of the operating system distribution and you are not sure whether any services have been removed from this distribution, it is strongly recommended to use a special cmd file designed to restore the service startup type to the default state. This file is available for download on specialized forums and differs from the reg-file in that it does not change the system registry entries if any service has been removed.
