The way the file will be displayed and what actions the user can perform with it is partially influenced by the attribute assigned to the file. If a folder or file is set to Hidden, it will become invisible. A little more detail on how to make invisible files visible and vice versa.
Instructions
Step 1
First, configure the display of hidden files and folders. To do this, refer to the "Folder Options" component. It can be called in several ways. Use the Windows key or the "Start" button to enter the "Control Panel". In the Appearance and Themes category, select the Folder Options icon.
Step 2
Alternative way: open any folder on your computer. In the top menu bar, select Folder Options from the Tools context menu. A new dialog box will open. Go to the "View" tab in it.
Step 3
In the "Advanced Options" group, go down the list until you find the "Hidden files and folders" branch. Set a marker in the "Show hidden files and folders" field and apply the new settings. Close the properties window with the OK button or the [x] icon.
Step 4
All files that were previously invisible will become translucent. This display method is adopted for hidden files and folders in the mode you just configured. To convert them to regular ones, refer to the properties of a specific file or folder.
Step 5
To do this, move the cursor to the icon of the desired file and right-click on it. In the context menu, select the last item - "Properties". A new dialog box will open. With the General tab active, find the file attributes section at the bottom of the window.
Step 6
Uncheck the Hidden field and apply the new settings. The file you selected will no longer be semi-transparent. Now, even if you select the "Do not show hidden files and folders" option in the "Folder Options" window with a marker, the file you selected will still remain visible.
Step 7
Keep in mind one thing: when you edit any file in the program, a temporary copy of it is created. It appears as a hidden file. Even if you make such a temporary file normal, after saving the original and closing the application in which you were working, it will disappear.
