In the tablet computer market, the palm is firmly held by Apple, which offered users the iPad computers that have become very popular. In terms of price-performance ratio, they left many competitors far behind. But not everything is so cloudless for the company, in the near future a worthy rival to its tablets may appear on the market.
One of the most serious competitors to Apple is Samsung. From time to time, real patent wars take place between them, during which the parties accuse each other of stealing technical solutions and try to prohibit the sale of rival products through the courts. Apple has won several of these battles in the mobile phone market, and now Samsung is finally able to take revenge on a competitor. This is a new tablet computer being developed by the company and codenamed P10.
The created tablet can seriously press the Apple products on the market. Usually, developers keep the characteristics of their products secret until they are officially presented, but from time to time, some data still gets on the network. It is these leaks that allow us to give some preliminary estimates for a new computer. In particular, it is already known that it will receive at least a dual-core fifth-generation Exynos central processor based on the ARM Cortex A15 architecture and clocked at 1.7 GHz. Already in this regard, the P10 bypasses the dual-core A5X processor in the iPad 3, which has a frequency of 1 GHz.
The iPad 3 will not be able to compete with the P10 in terms of the screen - the Samsung tablet will have an 11.8-inch multi-touch screen with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels, while the new offspring of Apple has a screen with a diagonal of 9.7 inches and a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels.
In its tablet, Samsung is going to install the Mali T604 graphics accelerator, which supports OpenCL and OpenGL technologies, as well as DirectX 11. This solution guarantees high-quality operation of applications that require serious graphics resources, for example, computer games or graphics processing programs. A graphics accelerator will also be useful when watching Full HD movies. The tablet has USB 3.0 and SATA 3.0 connectors.
The operating system of the new computer will be Android from Google. The exact version is still unknown, experts are leaning towards 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich or 4.1 Jelly Bean. The release date of the new tablet has not yet been announced, but it is already clear that it will appear in the very near future, since Samsung received permission for its mass production from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
