Against the background of the ever-intensifying competition between the two monsters of the mobile device market - Apple and Samsung - information is leaked to the press about certain parameters of the Korean company's tablet, which is being prepared for release. This mobile computer received the symbol P10, and experts consider it a real competitor to the third generation Apple iPad.
The main trump card of the new tablet from Samsung will undoubtedly be a super-powerful by modern standards processor for mobile devices - Exynos 5 Dual. This computer is built around two Cortex-A15 cores, ARM's latest 35nm technology. Its performance in some tasks will surpass even the common 4-core Qualcomm Krait processor. Of the significant features of the Exynos 5 Dual, it is worth noting support for a screen resolution of 2560 by 1600 pixels (WXQGA standard), the ability to display images on an external Wi-Fi display, and support for high-speed information exchange via the USB 3.0 port. The chipset of the new tablet will also include a new 4-core graphics accelerator Mali T604 by the same ARM company, which supports modern standards OpenCL 1.1, OpenGL ES 3.0 and DirectX 11. This chipset is equipped with a powerful SATA 3 hard disk controller and built-in 3D graphics.
The screen of the novelty is also quite remarkable - it will combine the high performance of SoC (System-on-Chip) technology with an 11.8-inch WQXGA display. It is built on a matrix that displays a picture with dimensions of 2,560 by 1,600 pixels - this corresponds to a parameter of 256 PPI (pixels per inch). In terms of this parameter, Samsung will only catch up with the indicators of the 9.7-inch Apple display, but the superiority in size will allow displaying 30% more information with the same picture quality.
Experts note that the ultimate success of the Samsung P10 tablet will largely depend on the choice of the operating system for it. There is no information on this yet, so we can only assume that it could be either Android 4.1 Jelly Bean from Google, or Windows 8 RT, which Microsoft plans to release this fall.
